I was pleased to see a new AED in a school that can be used by Deaf people. This has been achieved through extra diagrams and lights.
If you are looking to obtain an AED for your location, you can hire them for around £36 Per month with all consumables such as pads and batteries replaced as part of the contract. A few companies who do this can be found via google.
With the wonderful news that the Government are equipping all schools with AED'S over the next three months there is going to be a demand for training in AED use and Paediatric CPR . I am pleased to say I have a huge amount of experience in AED use and CPR and I am fully qualified to deliver courses to school staff in both subjects. The courses I can offer are both qualified and regulated by the appropriate UK bodies .

Effects of situations when First aid is required and used
When an incident occurs that requires the intervention of another to assist someone in a medical emergency this will nearly always cause the helper to have a degree of impact to their mental health.
Something as simple as a cut finger can upset a person who has a blood phobia, the shock of a young person being injured no matter how minor is real.

It is very important that if you have helped someone in their moment of need or witnessed some incident you must be prepared for 'after affects' some time following the incident. The impact can be very minor or very significant. Always be prepared to seek help, professional help , talk it through, and understand quite often the helper becomes a casualty in other ways.

Never ever be embarrassed or afraid to ask for help.

My own experiences as a Serviceman and member of two Emergency Services and the trials of life itself have left their mark and i fully understand the need for support no matter how trivial you may think the incident. we are all different and its OK to NOT be OK. never bottle it up. mental health is as serious and real as physical health, if not more so in some cases.
